The new Chairman of the House Water, Oceans and Wildlife (WOW) Subcommittee, three high-level appointees with the Biden Administration, and the former general manager of Westlands Water District have all confirmed their participation in the upcoming 2023 Family Farm Alliance Annual Conference in Reno, Nevada.
Tanya Trujillo, the Assistant Secretary for Water and Science at the Department of Interior, will deliver the conference opening keynote address at this year’s event on the morning of February 23. Later in the day, Rep. Cliff Bentz (R-OREGON), the new chair of the House WOW Subcommittee will deliver the luncheon keynote address for the general session, which will take place at the Silver Legacy Resort.
Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Touton will deliver the opening comments for the Reclamation Roundtable, a time-honored tradition of the Family Farm Alliance annual conference. Commissioner Touton will be joined by all five regional directors and other Reclamation leaders for the closing panel of the opening day.
Assistant Secretary Trujillo will join Robert Bonnie (Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation) and other USDA leaders for a panel discussion of opportunities to maximize interagency coordination Western watershed programs.
Tom Birmingham, who recently stepped down after leading the influential Westlands Water District for over two decades, will deliver the conference closing remarks just before noon on Friday, February 24.
These important decision makers, and a wide variety of other top-notch speakers, will take on the issues that make a difference to irrigators. Water managers, Congressional staff, Administration officials, young producers, and representatives from constructive NGOs are all featured in this year’s program.
The 2023 Annual Meeting and Conference is an opportunity for producers, policy makers and water professionals from throughout the West to focus on topics of critical concern.
